I’m back home after a month-long tour of the East Coast and thereabouts. As usual, I hung out with many nice folks and took in the sights. My tours are very much reconnaissance missions and this trip I racked up a few more ‘gotta go back there; gotta hang out with them again’ places.

Although I booked a few gigs for the Portland jaunt, the two weeks I was on the road was really about people... friends old and new... without whom guys like me would slowly turn into motel rooms, much like Spike Milligan in the film where he slowly turns into a Bed Sitting Room. Just got back from a trip to Alaska. My oh my. Such a beautiful place. Actually, if one is to consider the population and its tendencies, Alaska is Alabama with mountains, rivers and lakes. Fortunately, there are a lot more mountains, rivers and lakes than there is population... so, one can easily focus on the better aspects of the place.

Home for a while... working on charts and preparing for upcoming tours - Japan in April with Fritz Richmond and Tony Marcus. This will be a Jug Band Trio affair. There's quite an interest in Japan these days for the Fountain of Youth effect of Jug Band music. My goodness!... that's it!.. that's what I'll name the band when we appear next time with Eric and Suzy Thompson at the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley... "The Fountain of Youth Jug Band"! Ah!! Sounds wonderful!!
